  • No dogs are allowed on our club walks
  • Walk leaders and wall managers; please make alternative arrangements if unable to attend
  • Walkers are required to bring adequate gear to meet the adverse weather conditions and any emergencies that can occur in the mountain enviromnment. The following is a recommended equipment list:
    • Suitable boots with good grips and ankle support (runners are NOT suitable)
    • A full set of raingear
    • Plenty of warm synthetic clothing (fleece garments or track-suit trousers are ideal, jeans or other cotton items are NOT suitable)
    • Gloves and a hat
    • Food and drink
    • A good rucksack (ideally with a waterproof liner)
    • Torch
    • Map, compass and whistle
    • Sun hat and cream (we all live in hope!)
    • Mobile phone
    • Spare clothing to change into at the end of the walk
    • Money for après mountain refreshments
    • Your sense of humour!

    Car Pooling
As car parking is proving problematic in some of the areas we visit, we suggest that walk leaders locate a suitable car parking area in the general area of the walk, and that participants then pool cars to drive to the actual start of the walk. Your co-operation with walk leaders in this regard would be greatly appreciated.

Scheduled opening of the climbing wall, will commence on Thursday 18th. Oct. . MI Insurance Necessary. €5.00 per night or €50.00 for the season. Open Tuesday & Thursday Nights from 7pm to 9pm.

Club membership falls due at the AGM which will be held in Kate Kearney's Cottage on 22nd October at 4pm after the club walk on that day. At present the fee is €40.00. A Stamped Addressed Envelope is required with the fee so cards can be sent out to members.
Day membership (MI insured only) is €5.00

This exercise is designed to introduce members to basic navigation skills in the mountain envoirnment. Attendees will need a compass (preferably a Silva Type 4) and a Sheet 78 map. All members are encouraged to attend. It is important to indicate early if you mean to attend as the event won't happen if interest is low.

Following on from her success last year Sandra has again "volunteered" to organise this year's one. This will be held on Sat. 09th. Dec. in Dingle. Eamonn O'Connor will lead a walk on the Dingle Peninsula prior to the party. Further details will follow.

Walks are for KMC members however, if you are thinking of joining us and would like to come out for a trial walk please let us know via e-mail kymc@eircom.net or message us through our Facebook Page. Please note that a good level of fitness is required.

The Killarney cinema is no longer the meeting place for walks. An Email will be sent to members on the Friday preceding a walk giving the GR of the meeting place and the leader's tele no. Our Club Facebook page will be updated the Friday evening before a club walk, stating both the time & meeting place.
