 Alternative Walks

Alternative walks with a later start time will coincide with the "big walk". Information on these walks will be issued closer to the dates.

Our walks are not graded. Everyone does the same walk therefore a good level of fitness is required. On the day the walk leader can refuse to take someone who is not properly equipped or whom they consider to be not fit enough. The leader also decides on the route to be taken and has the authority to decide to cancel, postpone, shorten or reroute if the conditions demand it. They may also decide to move the walk to the Saturday if they feel the weather will be more favourable.

Members are required to bring adequate gear to meet the adverse weather conditions and any emergencies that can occur in the mountain environment. The following is a list of recommended gear: - Suitable boots, raingear, maps, compass, whistle, torch, suitable clothing for the conditions (No Denims), gloves, hat, enough food and drink for the day and lastly a suitable rucksack with waterproof liner. NB No Dogs.  ATTENTION: Walks leaders and wall managers; please make alternative arrangements if unable to attend.

Due to the pandemic Clubs walks are for members only for the time being.
This is a weekend away in the scenic Comeragh Mountains. We will walk on the Saturday and the Sunday. Information on accommadation and travel arrangements will follow in the near future.
Membership is €50 per annum from 1st Nov to 31st.Oct. Associate membership is €15. If you are MI insured and would like to join us on any of our walks, day participation is €5 per walk. The Club membership is comprised of MI insurance and the quarterly Mountain Log.

At the moment you should not share private vehicles with people outside your household. If this is not possible, such as in an emergency, face coverings should be worn within the vehicle.

An Email/WhatsApp message will be sent to members on the Friday preceding a walk, giving the GR of the meeting place and the leader's phone no. Members MUST confirm by text message to the designated walk leader, if they are participating in the walk, by 9 pm on Saturday. Due to current Covid19 restrictions group size is limited to 15 persons and members are reminded to observe social distancing. The FaceBook page will also be updated with relevant information.
