Septenber - The Mournes (dates to be confirmed).

Our walks are not graded. Everyone does the same walk therefore a good level of fitness is required. On the day the walk leader can refuse to take someone who is not properly equipped or whom they consider to be not fit enough. The leader also decides on the route to be taken and has the authority to decide to cancel, postpone, shorten or reroute if the conditions demand it. They may also decide to move the walk to the Saturday if they feel the weather will be more favourable.

Members are required to bring adequate gear to meet the adverse weather conditions and any emergencies that can occur in the mountain environment. The following is a list of recommended gear: - Suitable boots, raingear, maps, compass, whistle, torch, suitable clothing for the conditions (No Denims), gloves, hat, enough food and drink for the day and lastly a suitable rucksack with waterproof liner. NB No Dogs.  ATTENTION: Walks leaders and wall managers; please make alternative arrangements if unable to attend.

Due to the pandemic Clubs walks are for members only for the time being.
The climbing is now closed. All going well it will reopen in October.  MI Insurance Necessary and you must present your MCI card to the wall mangers before using same.

This Summer we are planning three trips away - Connemara, Glendalough and the Mournes. The first trip is to Connemara on the weekend of the 11th/12th July. The Maamturks walk will take place on the Saturday. We will base ourselves in Leenane as there are plenty of accommodation options available - hotel, b&b and hostel. There are several other walk options available for those looking for something less strenuous - Devils Mother, Ben Gorm, The Western Way etc. Sunday can be a short walk or rest day if desired.

Membership is €50 per annum from 1st Nov to 31st.Oct. Associate membership is €15. If you are MI insured and would like to join us on any of our walks, day participation is €5 per walk. The Club membership is comprised of MI insurance and the quarterly Mountain Log.

Regrettably for the moment walks are limited to club members only.
Walks are for KMC members. Non-members are welcome to join us for a trial walk (see our walks calendar). You can let us know as to which walk you would like to attend via e-mail ( or message us via our Facebook page. If you wish to Join the club after the trial walk please print out a copy of the membership form and bring this with you along with the membership fee on your next walk.

As car parking is proving problematic in some of the areas, we visit we are suggesting that leaders find suitable car parking in the general area and carpool to the start of the walk. We are asking participants to co-operate with leaders on this matter.
The Killarney Cinema is no longer the meeting place for walks. An Email / What’s App Message will be sent to members on the Friday preceding a walk giving the GR of the meeting place and the leader's tele. no. The Club Facebook page will also be updated.
