 Alternative Walks

Walks starting later will occur on similar dates to the listed walks. As yet a calendar will not be formulated. Info on these walks will appear on the Facebook page prior to the date .

Our walks are not graded. Everyone does the same walk therefore a good level of fitness is required. On the day the walk leader can refuse to take someone who is not properly equipped or whom they consider to be not fit enough. The leader also decides on the route to be taken and has the authority to decide to cancel, postpone, shorten or reroute if the conditions demand it. They may also decide to move the walk to the Saturday if they feel the weather will be more favourable.

Members are required to bring adequate gear to meet the adverse weather conditions and any emergencies that can occur in the mountain environment. The following is a list of recommended gear: - Suitable boots, raingear, maps, compass, whistle, torch, suitable clothing for the conditions (No Denims), gloves, hat, enough food and drink for the day and lastly a suitable rucksack with waterproof liner. NB No Dogs.  ATTENTION: Walks leaders and wall managers; please make alternative arrangements if unable to attend.

The Club BBQ will be held in Helen's Bar in Killmacillogue on Saturday 27th. July. There is limited accommodation available in the bar so book early. More details will be published nearer to the date

The climbing wall will close for the Summer season on Thursday 11th. April. Outdoor climbing will continue in the Gap of Dunloe on Thursday evenings. The climbing wall may open if weather conditions are poor.

Membership is €50 per annum from 1st Nov to 31st.Oct. Associate membership is €15. If you are MI insured and would like to join us on any of our walks, day participation is €5 per walk. The Club membership is comprised of MI insurance and the quarterly Mountain Log.

Walks are for KMC members. Non-members are welcome to join us for two trial walks (see our walks calendar). You can let us know as to which walks you would like to attend via e-mail ( or message us via our Facebook page. If you wish to join the club after the trial walks please print out a copy of the membership form and bring this with you along with the membership fee on your next walk.

As parking is restricted in some of the areas that we visit we recommend car sharing to minimise the number of vehicles.

Currently we hold two walks on the designated Sunday. The main walks are listed in the calendar. These generally start early and can be long and strenuous. The alternative walks start later and are easier. These are advertised on an ad hoc basis at the moment. information on both walks will be sent to members and will be published on our Facebook page on the Friday/Saturday preceding the walk.

A downloadable version of the calendar is available here.
